What motivated you to run for this office?

I would like to serve the community. I have thought about running for some time. Recently retired and now have time to do so.

What qualities and behaviors should school board/city council members and mayors exhibit?

They need to be able to listen to concerns of citizens and act upon those concerns.

What do you see as the primary roles and responsibilities for the position you are running for?

Be able to listen to concerns of citizens and bring those concerns to the council.

How would you handle requests if approached by an individual? Special interest group?

I would listen to requests; make no promises and invite them to the council for discussion. I would do the same for interest groups.

Why is it important for people to vote in school board/city elections?

People who hold these local positions are the primary people who help shape the future for our community.

What challenges do you see small, rural communities like yours facing today as compared to larger cities and suburbs? What do you plan to do to help meet those challenges as a city council member?

Challenges are meeting required regulations within budget limitations. Work on increasing our tax base through supporting new businesses in our community without raising taxes.

Why should people vote for you on November 2, 2021?

I am qualified for this position and have been a lifelong resident in Tama. I have time to commit and am willing to do what is necessary to improve our city.
