Teen Area at the library

The library now has a lego table, legos and lego books for its teen area due to receiving a grant from the Mansfield Trust.

The library was also able to purchase four new soft chairs, four stackable chairs and a table for the Teen Area through this grant.

Want to come in for a visit? Ring the bell to the right of the door to be let in for 30 minutes. Masks are required. Browse for books, use a computer, build a Lego masterpiece, use the Wi-fi.

Summer Reading/Learning

Plans are underway for our annual summer programming. The library plans to be Virtual again this year. This year’s theme is “Reading Colors your World.” Watch for more information as it gets closer to June.

Adopt-a-book Program

Want to help with the book budget? Join others who have helped by Adopting a book. Pay only the library’s discounted price for the book you want, and you get to read it first.

Library patrons who have helped us out this way are: Donna Lasser, Anne Michael, Sonja Hoskey, Marlene Sotyn, Norma Ledvina, Pat Kolpin, Jake and Maureen Jacobson, Elizabeth Reece, Deb Hanus, Tracy Glockl, Jean Bolen, and Julie Shook. Some of the titles purchases were: Slanted, Is it Alzheimer’s, Cilka’s Journey, If it Bleeds, Orphan Keeper, The Midnight Library, The Nickel Boys, Revenge, Fair Warning, A Walk Along the Beach, The Answer is.., Cajun, 1st Case, Deacon King Kong, The Guest List, The Midwife Murders, One Vote Away, The Witch Hunter, and Deadly Cross. Adopting these titles totaled 283.41. There are many patrons who just wish to donate to the book budget.

Iowa Award Books

The library has ordered the Iowa Children’s Choice Award books (20 Titles) and the Iowa Teen Award books (15 Titles). Kids, watch for their arrival.

New Benches for the library: The library purchased two new outdoor benches in June 2020. The benches were assembled by volunteer Dick Koehler. They are now assembled, and the library staff are waiting for Spring so they can replace the old bent benches with the new benches that are made out of heavy-duty recycled plastic like the benches on the Rec Trail.
