TCSW Stewardship week poster contest

Calling all teachers, homeschool instructors and students K-12. Tama SWCD and Conservation Districts of Iowa announce this year’s Stewardship Week Poster Contest!

Healthy Forests = Healthy Communities. Trees are vital. As the biggest plants on the planet, they absorb carbon from the atmosphere, stabilize the soil, filter water, provide health habitat for wildlife and offer many additional benefits–for nature, people and biodiversity. Not only is it necessary to protect existing trees and plant new ones, but it’s also important to advocate and educate about threes and forest conservation within your community.

The individual’s poster must be on white 8.5” x 11″ or 11” x 17″ paper, cardstock, or poster board. Media may include paint, crayon, pencil, colored pencil, or charcoal. The 2021 Stewardship theme “Healthy Forests = Healthy Communities” must be included on the front side. An entry form signed by a parent or guardian must be taped to the back of the poster.

Posters from schools located in Tama County must arrive in the Tama SWCD office by 4:30 p.m. on Friday, April 23. Our office is located at 102 Business Hwy 30W in Toledo, or call our office to arrange pick-up prior to the due date. For school buildings located outside of Tama County, visit https://idals-farms.iowa.gov/index.php/districtMap to find the SWCD office for your county.

One overall Tama County winner will receive a $20 award. The winner at each grade level in each participating school will receive an award of $10.
