Jason Thiessen identified as crash vicitm

According to Marshall County Sheriff Steve Hoffman, a crash was reported at 6 a.m. Wednesday morning, April 29, on Marsh Avenue north of Liscomb near the Hardin County line. A 1999 GMC Sierra pickup truck had sustained heavy damage and was found to be unoccupied. Sheriff’s deputies and Liscomb Fire searched the crash area and other measures were taken in an attempt to find and check the welfare of the driver.

Liscomb Fire found the body of a man, later determined to be Jason Thiessen, age 49 of Marshalltown, nearly one-quarter mile away from the crash scene in a field. Preliminary information indicates that Mr. Thiessen left the scene on foot traveling northeast cross country. The body was transferred to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for further investigation.

Mr. Thiessen was last known to have left a residence in Whitten at approximately 10:30 p.m. Tuesday night.
