Jazz Band Festival set Monday at South Tama High School

South Tama County will be one of the host sites for the Iowa High School Music Association State Jazz Band Festival on Monday, Jan. 27.

This event is open to the public if interested in hearing some outstanding area High School Jazz Bands.

The festival begins at 4:20 p.m. in the STC Gym and there will be an admission to the event.

“This will be a real treat for our community, some very good bands will be performing” noted Mike Carnahan, STC Band instructor. “People can also come and go as they please between band performances, hearing as many or as few bands as they would like. We would especially welcome a bunch of STC support for when we take the stage.” added Carnahan.

Each band performs prepared selections of around 20 minutes of music, then will receive an on-stage clinic by one of three judges. The bands are scored on different categories and will receive a total score and rating after their performance.
