South Tama rolls out new Strategic Plan and District Snapshot brochures

South Tama Superintendent Jared Smith presented the first copies of new school district informational folders to the South Tama School Board at its regular meeting on Monday, Aug. 5.

Smith said he worked on both this summer in cooperation with the Central Rivers Area Education Agency.

Printed on heavy stock, the full-color works are to be made available to staff members and new community members. All residents attending a “State of Education” breakfast planned for October will receive one, Smith said.

The STC Strategic Plan is based upon feedback from about 300 community members and 13 focus groups. It details the district vision- “STC Schools- Where Every Student Has A Plan,” Five strategic anchors -“providing the lens through which every decision must be evaluated,” and the core values- “clarify a fundamental set of principals that guide our organizational behavior.”

It the defines the strategic anchors: “attract and retain great staff; guarantee exceptional learning opportunities; emphasize data and measure progress; inspire success and share our story; and, cultivate a culture of excellence.”

The District Snapshot contains a welcome message from Supt. Smith, school and office location and “South Tama County By The Numbers.” an overview of the schools ranging from number of students 1,564 (62nd largest of over 320 districts in Iowa) to a 95.1% four-year graduation rate.
