Wieting Phase II awarded $260,000 grant

January 10, 2018 (Des Moines) – The Enhance Iowa Board awarded $345,000 in Community Attraction and Tourism (CAT) grants to a community theater in Toledo and a community golf clubhouse in Schleswig at today’s meeting in Urbandale.
Project Name: Wieting Theatre and Opera House Phase II Project, Toledo
Total Project Cost: $1,341,179
Amount Requested: $260,000
Amount Awarded: $260,000
Project Description: This new addition will provide event space, kitchen, dressing room and green room spaces, set construction, restrooms and storage. New stage lighting and rigging, as well structural improvements to the roof are also included.

Project Name: Schleswig Community Golf Club New Clubhouse, Schleswig
Total Project Cost: $427,950
Amount Requested: $94,600
Amount Awarded: $85,000
Project Description: This project includes the replacement of the existing clubhouse with a new facility that will host community celebrations, meetings and special events.
The Enhance Iowa Program provides financial incentives to communities for the construction of recreational, cultural, educational or entertainment facilities that enhance the quality of life in Iowa. To date, 28 CAT awards have been granted by the board, totaling $9,932,802. The next Enhance Iowa Board meeting is scheduled for February 14, 2018, in Urbandale.
