TOLEDO CHRONICLE – State Senator Steve Sodders (D-State Center) has announced he will hold a listening post on Saturday, April 30 from 12:30-1:30 p.m.

It will be conducted in the Public Lounge at the Tama Civic Center, 305 Siegel.

Sodders will be shifted to a Senate District which will include all of Tama County under the redistricting plan approved by the Iowa Legislature and signed by Governor Terry Branstad.

The new Senate District 36 includes all of Tama County, all of Marshall County and two townships in Black Hawk County.

Current State Senators Tim Kapucian (R-Keystone) and Tom Rielly (D-Oskaloosa) who represent portions of the Tama County will continue to do so through the 2012 General Election.

According to a his news release, Sodders serves as a deputy sheriff in Marshall County and has been working in law enforcement for the last 20 years. He is a D.A.R.E instructor and has served as a detective on the Mid-Iowa Drug Task Force to curb drug use and abuse in central Iowa. He has also served as a volunteer fire fighter in State Center.

In the Iowa Senate, Sodders chairs the Senate Economic Growth Committee.

The news release says “Sodders’ leadership in that position has helped the Senate approve a host of job creation initiatives this year, often with overwhelming bipartisan support.”

He and his wife, Carrie, have been married for 18 years and live in State Center. They have two children, Adam and Maggie.
