96th annual Meskwaki Powwow starts today

TAMA NEWS-HERALD – Flooding from the Iowa River has forced the Meskwaki Powwow to be relocated from the traditional Powwow Grounds west of Tama at Tama County Road E49 and Battle Ground Road to be moved.

Powwow performances will take place at the arena located south of the Meskwaki Bingo•Casino•Hotel, four miles west of Tama-Toledo on U.S. Highway 30.

They are scheduled daily at 1 and 7 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 12-Sunday, Aug. 15.

Featured are Tribal ceremonial dances, arts and crafts and exhibits.

Special days include Thursday- Children’s Day, Friday – Senior Citizens Day, Saturday – Veterans Day and Sunday – Governor’s Day.
