Big 4th of July set for Toledo area

TOLEDO CHRONICLE – TOLEDO CHRONICLE – There’s lots of activities in observance of the 4th of July – Independence Day coming up this weekend in Toledo in addition to the All-Class Toledo High School reunion. On Saturday evening, July 3, a pulled pork sandwich meal is being served beginning at 5 p.m. by the Toledo Fire Department and American Legion Post 72. It will be served in the south parking lot adjacent to the Legion, 109 North Main. At 7 p.m., the 19th annual Harry Gardner Toledo 5K Run and Walk starts at the corner of Broadway and High on the Tama County Courthouse square. Walk-up registrations can be made on the square until 6:45 p.m. A street dance featuring the band “Hold On” will be from 8 p.m. – 12:30 a.m. in the Post Office parking lot. The dance is also sponsored by the Fire Department and Legion. On the 4th of July (Sunday)Christ United Methodist Church is hosting a community luncheon from 11 a.m.- 1:30 p.m. Fireworks will be displayed beginning at dusk at the Toledo City Park on U.S. Highway 30 west. The Toledo Fire Department is in charge of pyrotechnics.
