TOLEDO CHRONICLE – Kittens and cats, lots of them, according to Laurie Schultz, president of the Tama County Humane Society, are ready for adoption here. On Tuesday morning, the count was 22, from newborn to adult at the shelter, 1406 E. 5th St., Tama.

Society members are hosting “Adopt a Cat Day” on Friday, June 18, from 4-6 p. m. at the Pamida Store in Toledo. Some of the cats will be on hand for you to meet and maybe even adopt, they said.

The Humane Society has also launched a fund drive to purchase a set of state-of-the-art cat shelter cages (RIGHT). They feature plexi-glass fronts and cats are able to “travel” from one area to another via passageways provided.

Sponsors of the cages, businesses, groups or individuals, will be recognized with a special plaque on the cages.

Visit the Humane Society Shelter any Saturday morning from 9 a.m.- noon or call 641-691-7676 to make an appointment.
