TAMA NEWS-HERALD -MARSHALLTOWN – The Weather Spotter training had to be rescheduled on April 6 because there was severe weather forecast for the area.

The class, presented by a meteorologist from the National Weather Forecast Office in Johnston, and co-sponsored by Iowa Valley Continuing Education and Marshall County Emergency Management, has been rescheduled for Tuesday, April 27, 6-9 p.m., in Dejardin Hall, Room 808 of IVCE, 3702 S. Center St., Marshalltown.

The class will explain weather forecasting, how to develop a plan and system for the severe weather season, severe weather spotting techniques, and the safety rules regarding updating information on tornado deaths and destruction.

Personnel from Public Works, Schools, Fire and Law Enforcement, EMS, amateur radio, DOT, and the general public are welcome to refresh their knowledge of the many facets of weather including forecasting through radar tracking and reporting.

Registration for Tornado Spotters Training, course # HEP 1083 010, will be available 6-6:30 p.m. and the class will run 6:30-9 p.m.
