Eagles Club sets up annual Charity Day
The Fraternal Order of Eagles and Auxiliary members assembled recently at joint meetings to set up their Annual Charity Day to be held Sat., March 20. The events will begin with an auction at 2 p.m., a steak supper served 5-7 p.m., followed by a dance from 8 to midnight. Other events are slated to be at intervals for the enjoyment of all.
The proceeds will go to the Diabetic Research Center in Iowa City. The funds raised will not be used for bricks and mortar but to help find a cure for diabetes. Volunteers have benn assigned places to call on for solicitations. Donations (monetary and other, large or small) from businesses and individuals will be greatly appreciated.
Dignitaries from around Iowa will be present. All members, their guests, and the public are invited to attend to help make this a Day to Remember. The next joint meeting will be Monday, March 8, 6 p.m.
Due to incement weather, regular meetings of the Auxiliary on Jan. 25 and Feb. 8 were not held. At the regular meeting on Feb. 22, three new members, Cindy Richardson, Rachel Youngbear and LaDonna Garcia, were taken in by Class Initiation and welcomed heartily. All three ladies and four other members present celebrated having birthdays in January and Febraury. A monetary donation was presented to all seven members and “Happy Birthday” rendered in their honor.
In other business the Auxiliary voted to donate $50 to Project Prom. Soup and Sandwich nights will continue through the month of March and Fish Fries through May. The next meeting will be held March 8, 7 p.m.
