SATCUI sets town hall meeting in Toledo

The Substance Abuse Treatment Unit of Central Iowa (SATUCI) announced that it will hold a series of town hall meetings to allow discussion of how adverse weather has affected people in Central Iowa. The town hall facilitator will be Mark Smith, Licensed Independent Social Worker and Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor. Mark also serves as State Representative for District 43.

“The purpose of these meetings is to discuss how weather related disasters have affected people and what skills can be used to cope with the aftermath,” stated Smith. The town hall meetings will include an overview of the adverse weather of 2008 and 2009, some of the issues that often develop with mental health functioning and increased substance misuse, ideas on coping more effectively, and updating attendees on available community resources.

The meetings are free and open to the public.

The next meeting will be held on Dec. 7 at the Toledo Public Library from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
