Seek to develop hazardous mitigation, community development plan

TAMA NEWS-HERALD – The Region VI Planning Commission and Tama County Economic Development are hosting the first countywide hazard mitigation and community development meeting. Representatives from each community, school district, and several county departments will be present, but they would also like residents of Tama County to attend.

They need your help to identify assets and issues in Tama County. You will have the chance to voice your ideas and take part in setting goals for the county.

This is the first of two countywide meetings that will be held. The overall outcome of these meetings will be a FEMA approved hazard mitigation plan that will help the county, cities, and school districts qualify for grant funding. The other major result of this meeting will be a countywide community development strategy that will help to improve the quality of life for Tama County residents and visitors.

The first meeting will be held on Thursday, Dec. 3, 2009, from noon – 1:30 p.m. The meeting will be held at the Reinig – Toledo Civic Center. Lunch and drinks will be provided, but you must RSVP for this event by Dec. 1, in order to receive a meal.

If you have questions or would like to RSVP, contact Alicia Rosman at Region VI Planning Commission by phone or e-mail at (641) 752-0717 or
