TOLEDO CHRONICLE- Toledo residents are urged by the Fire Department to take a few moments on Wednesday, Oct. 7, to practice family fire escape routes in their homes during the annual Operation EDITH – Exit Drills In The Home exercise.

Turn on your porch light beginning at 6:30 p.m. to signal firefighters your family has discussed and tried plans to evacuate the home if a fire breaks out.

Toledo firefighters will pass through the residential areas in fire trucks to canvass the response.

The event is being held during Fire Prevention Week, Oct. 4-10.

The theme this year is “Stay Fire Smart! Don’t Get Burned”

Look for the special Fire Safety Coloring Book for youngsters which includes photos of local firefighters included in the Oct. 6 issue of The Chronicle.
