Seven things to know from Monday’s Board of Supervisors meeting

on March 6th, 2023

Resolution 3-6-2023A to vacate the secondary road in unincorporated Haven for the purchase of an individual owning property adjacent to the road was approved. “This road, beginning at the Northwest corner of Lot 22, thence West 8 feet to the center of the vacated alley, thence North 60 feet, thence East 8 feet to the Southwest corner of Lot 23, thence East 149 feet to the Southeast corner of Lot 23, thence South 60 feet to the Northeast corner of Lot 22, theme West 148 feet to the point of beginning, all in Marshall’s Plat of the Town of Eureka, Tama County, IA (now known as the unincorporated community of Haven). Section 21, Township 82, Range 14 in Tama County, IA.”

Due to the decent winter, the Engineer Dept. has enough funds to replace three pickups in their fleet. The County Engineer has received a quote of $33,156 for the purchase of a ½ ton pickup from Thys Motor in Belle Plaine and requested to purchase three at this price.

The Special Election Canvas has been set for Tuesday, March 14th, at 8:00 am.

A special meeting between the Supervisors and county attorney was approved for Thursday, March 9th, at 11:00 am to discuss solar and zoning with a possible closed session.

The Supervisors approved terminating the 28E agreement with Poweshiek County, ending on June 30th, 2023. The Iowa Code 28E Agreement is “to provide for Mutual Aid within the jurisdiction of the Parties to this Agreement.”

The Supervisors accepted the resignation of the County Engineer, Lyle Brehm, effective March 31st.

Claims totaling $374,489.89 were approved.
