Restoring historic King Tower Cafe sign

News-Herald/John Speer

Larry Thomas (right) and Drew Clayton load the iconic King Tower Cafe souvenir advertising sign on a truck for transport to artist Berleen Wobeter on Tuesday morning, Jan. 21, from the Thomas Co. warehouse in Tama. The sign is being restored and will be again placed at the historic Highway 30 cafe on Tama’s east side upon completion. A Mansfield grant is paying for the work.
