Some exciting new changes are happening soon at Tama-Grundy Publishing in conjunction with the launching of a new sports section during the month of April. Beginning April 2 editorial and advertising functions of all Tama-Grundy Publishing newspapers (including The Traer Star-Clipper, Dysart Reporter, Gladbrook Northern Sun-Print and Reinbeck Courier) will be moved to the offices of the Tama News-Herald.

The Tama News-Herald office already is the production facility for preparing the Tama News-Herald, Toledo Chronicle and Tama County Shopper.

For years, readers have enjoyed the features of the Inside Iowa Today section inserted with Tama-Grundy newspapers. Beginning this April Inside Iowa will feature new, broader sports coverage from all of our Tama-Grundy markets. Readers from Traer, Clutier, Dysart, Gladbrook, Garwin, Lincoln, Reinbeck, Tama, Toledo, Chelsea, Montour, Vining and Meskwaki Settlement can now enjoy a more thorough coverage of South Tama, North Tama, Union, Gladbrook-Reinbeck, GMG and Meskwaki Settlement school athletics, along with all school news coverage – all in one convenient package.

By centralizing our efforts, we will be able to provide more in-depth coverage of the topics important to you while also adapting to the changing media landscape.

What does this mean

for readers?

This does not affect anything for The Toledo Chronicle, but for our other papers in Tama, Traer, Dysart, Gladbrook and Reinbeck – if you receive your paper through the mail (as the vast majority of readers do), your paper will still be mailed out on Thursday and there will be no delays of receipt. For our readers who do still enjoy picking up their papers at your favorite grocery or convenience store, that option will still be available. So, readers will continue to be able to read their paper every week just like they do now.

Who are the staff members?

John Speer will lead our news team for Tama-Grundy Publishing with three other news people responsible for the various newspapers and markets. Betty Dahms will be responsible for our Gladbrook and Reinbeck newspapers, CJ Eilers will be responsible for our Traer and Dysart newspapers and Allison Graham will continue to be responsible primarily for sports coverage for the Tama and Toledo area.

John will coordinate the work on all publications and all three news people will report to John.

Nancy Sund will oversee all facets of the combined operations as well as be in charge of advertising for all six weeklies and our shopper. Teresa Davenport will continue to work with advertisers throughout the Tama-Grundy market areas. Deb Wilkens will run our accounting department.

What about submitting

stories or photos?

The majority of our correspondence over the last several years has switched to email. For those of you who email weekly columns, church schedules, stories with photos, etc., you can continue to use the same email addresses for all of our newspapers as you have always done.
