New physician assistant joins the Deer Creek Medical staff
Becky (Copeland) Dillman
Becky (Copeland) Dillman, MPAS, PA-C, will join the medical team in early August, splitting her time between Deer Creek Family Care in Toledo and Manatt Family Urgent Care at GRMC.
Dillman graduated from Des Moines University in 2009 with her masters of science in physician assistant studies. After graduation, Dillman liked the greater Des Moines area, so she accepted a job in the UnityPoint Health emergency department. Her connection to Grinnell came in the form of husband Matt Dillman, a local farmer. Dillman made the decision to move to Grinnell to plant roots and live in the town where she works.
“I want to take good care of people, make lasting relationships with patients, and be a provider that can be depended upon to give the best care possible,” Dillman says.
Dillman initially received her bachelor of arts in communications in 2002 from the University of Minnesota. When she began her professional career in advertising, she realized she had made the wrong career choice. Dillman returned to school and graduated with her bachelor of science in Biomedical Science from Saint Cloud State University in Minnesota, followed by her masters of science degree in 2009 from Des Moines University.
“We are extremely excited to have Becky joining our team at Deer Creek Family Care, along with the team at the Manatt Family Urgent Care clinic,” says Brody Hala, GRMC outlying clinics supervisor. “Becky brings great experience and a diverse background to our clinics. I believe she will be an excellent addition to Deer Creek.”
Dillman has worked at UnityPoint Health, Central Iowa Healthcare, and Urgent Injury Clinic Des Moines Orthopedic Surgeons, all in the physician assistant role. She will focus on acute and orthopedic care as well as family medicine at both Deer Creek Family Care and Manatt Family Urgent Care.
“We want to continue to grow and expand services to the residents of the Tama-Toledo communities, and Becky will play an integral part in this as we move in that direction,” Hala says.
Dillman will see patients of all ages, and says patients can expect her to be competent, approachable, and someone they can really talk with and establish a trusting relationship.
“I’m looking forward to joining a smaller community and caring for my neighbors,” Dillman says.
When not at work, Dillman enjoys fishing, spending time with friends and family at the lake, cooking, and reading.
Deer Creek Family Care, located at 401 1st Ave., Toledo, is accepting new patients on behalf of Dillman. The clinic hours are 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. To schedule an appointment, please call 641-484-2602.
