Marshalltown- Iowa Valley Continuing Education and IowaWorks / Iowa Valley are excited to announce a new partnership with Iowa Premium in Tama to provide job training and job opportunities to qualified individuals.
In this new joint venture, Iowa Premium will begin a pre-employment training for industrial maintenance. The program will include a one-two day on-site visit to explore what the company does as well as explaining skills needed to succeed in an Iowa Premium job. To qualify for this program, individuals first need to apply at IowaWorks, located at 3405 S. Center St. in Marshalltown. Prospective participants will then be required to take the NCRC (National Career Readiness Certificate) as well as other assessments to qualify for the Iowa Premium training program
Once this part of the screening is done, the one-two day on-site visit occurs in Tama. After the visit, participants will take a three-four week class to learn the essential skills for the Iowa Premium jobs. The skills course will include Math, AC / DC, Hand Tools, Business Skills, Fluid Power, Mechanical Drives, Motors and Controls, and Safety. All participants will “earn while they learn,” because students will be paid while in class.
Those who successfully complete the class will have the potential to receive a job through Iowa Premium.
For more information and to begin the NCRC testing at IowaWorks, stop at the office or call 641-754-1400 by Monday, Jan. 9, 2017.
