While there are several efforts going on currently to provide new housing opportunities locally, Harlan and Dave Dirks have been a mainstay in the area for many years.

It started when Harlan entered the real estate business in Toledo in 1959 with the newly-formed Dirks Real Estate. Now, 57 years later, the father-son partnership continues in listing and selling real estate under the Dirks Real Estate banner.

The firm has two sales people, Rose Anaya and Ranae Kramer, as well as Dave, the broker-owner and Harlan, broker associate. They offer a full line of services including residential, business, commercial and farm properties.

Another important part of the Dirks’ residential efforts has been the Arrowhead Mobile Home Park which they purchased on Oct. 1, 1992. Since then, it has grown from 32 mobile homes to a total of 95.

Currently, 400 people live in the Arrowhead community according to Dave Dirks. The park was originally opened in 1969.

In an ongoing program, renters are offered a rent-to-own program. “It’s a program that has really worked out well,” Harlan Dirks says.

Over the past one and one-half years the Dirks have added seven new manufactured housing units at Arrowhead.

Additionally, two sets of mini-storage unit totaling 49 individual spaces are included at the complex.

Offices for both Arrowhead Mobile Home Park and Dirks Real Estate are headquartered at the park on Toledo’s southwest side.
