Mid-Iowa Community Action, Inc. (MICA) will soon launch its annual free tax preparation program, VITA. The program is offered in Tama and other counties.

Workers earning less than about $52,000 from wages, self-employment or farming in 2014 could qualify for free tax preparation. To find out if you qualify or schedule an appointment contact your local MICA family development center.

To staff the VITA program, MICA is looking for volunteers to help prepare taxes for low-income individuals and families. No prior experience is necessary. MICA is also in need of volunteer translators and greeters.

Most tax preparation will take place during the primary tax season of February and March 2015.
