Holiday traditions combined with new experiences are in store for the annual Tama-Toledo Area Chamber of Commerce Holiday Explosion 2014 set for this Saturday, Dec. 29.

But not only are there lots of seasonal events on Saturday, there’s your chance to jump start Christmas shopping at local stores. Many will be taking part in Small Business Saturday promotion sponsored by American Express.

Santa Claus is expected to be at the Tama Civic Center, 305 Siegel, for Breakfast and Pictures from 7-11 a.m. according to Chamber Coordinator Cassie Sokol.

Events continue throughout the day with a free movie at the Wieting, gingerbread house construction at the Toledo Public Library, Boy Scouts chilli supper and story?hour with Mrs. Claus at the Historical Society Cabin.

The Grand Lighted Parade – “Lighting the Way for Santa’s Sleigh!” in downtown Toledo starts at 7:30 p.m. followed by the Grand Courthouse Lighting Display at 8:15 p.m.

Parade participants are invited. Line-up is at the South Tama Middle School, 200 S. Green Street beginning at 6:30 p.m. There’s $175 in Chamber Bucks prizes for parade entries. Call the Chamber Office at 641-484-6661 to sign up or email:
