Governor cuts ribbon at Iowa Premium Beef in Tama

Iowa Governor Terry Branstad and Jeffrey Johnson, CEO of Iowa Premium Beef in Tama, cut the ceremonial ribbon to mark the soon-to-be-opened Iowa Premium Beef plant on Tama’s east side on Thursday morning, Oct. 23, 2014. The Governor praised the expected employment of 600 at the plant and said it was another example of Iowa’s economic growth. Johnson said the plant will open shortly and IPB will spend about $1 billion annually procuring cattle for the operation. Tama Mayor Dan Zimmerman said the plant “provides a dynamic growth period for both Tama and the State of Iowa.”
