1. The board awarded the contract for the replacement of the K Avenue bridge in Columbia Township – an agenda item that was tabled during last week’s meeting – to Peterson Contractors, Inc. (PCI) based in Reinbeck for a low bid of $685,341.17.

2. The Class C liquor license for the Montour business Thirsty Pigs LLC owned by Jay Kennedy of Madrid was approved for a year. The business offers catering and Sunday Service including wedding events and festivals.

3. A resolution was adopted delineating the maximum deposit limit for county funds in WCF Financial Bank of Tama ($5,000,000) and First Interstate Bank of Gladbrook ($2,000,000). A name change was also part of the resolution – Great Western Bank is now First Interstate Bank. The resolution was needed due to an error last March when the depositors were added – max deposit limits were not approved at that time.

4. Claims totaling $447,676.75 were approved.

At 10:00 a.m., the board entered into closed session pursuant to Iowa Code 21.5(1)(c) in order to discuss with attorney Carlton Salmons by phone progress regarding two separate lawsuits against the board filed by petitioners Richard Arp of Dysart and Heather Knebel of Traer. Iowa Code 21.5(1)(c) states: “To discuss strategy with counsel in matters that are presently in litigation or where litigation is imminent where its disclosure would be likely to prejudice or disadvantage the position of the governmental body in that litigation.” The board re-entered open session at 10:30 a.m. No discussion and no action were taken following the closed session. The meeting was adjourned at 10:30 a.m.
