What to know from Monday’s Toledo city council meeting 10/24

Public Hearing for the proposed zoning change of the lot located at 301 N. County Rd (parcel #14.15.328.003) from R-2 to B-2 was held. With no community voices, the hearing was closed.

Ordinance #2022-08 was approved to amend Ordinance #2022-0. This ordinance amended the zoning ordinance from April 25th, 2022 for the district map of the City of Toledo to rezone parcel #14.15.328.003, lots 1 & 2 , Blk 4, Stone’s to B-2 Business District.

Resolution #2022-42 was approved, waiting the 2nd and 3rd reading of Ordinance #2022-08.

The Council approved the hiring of Nicholas Ryan as an officer for the Toledo Police Dept.

Public Hearing was held to review the Iowa Economic Development Authority: Community Development Block grant of $950,000. This grant will be used to create housing in downtown Toledo by restoring the upper floor of the 132 E. High Street building for four affordable multi-family rental units. The city council was also asked for a ‘wish list’ of improvements they would like to commence in the downtown area. With no community voices, the hearing was closed.

Resolution #2022-41 was approved for the IEDA CDBG upper story housing grant for 132 E. High St. for Toledo Masonic Temple, LLC.

Tax abatement application for 124 N. Broadway was approved.

Resolution #2022-43 was approved to transfer funds #680-Ambulance to #001-General to cover a new ambulance purchase.

Resolution #2022-44 was approved to waive judgment lien and pay court costs of $125 on 113 W. High St.

Public Works reported the demolition of the juvenile home started on Oct. 13. The second floor of the Administration building is nearly complete.

Public Works reported 27 ash trees still remain in town, and they’re working on getting more of the diseased trees removed before winter sets in.
