Tama Co. bible marathon complete

Special to the News Chronicle Tama County completed the Vision of the Iowa Bible Reading Marathon Tuesday, July 7, 2020 at 7:14 a.m. The vision since 2018 was taken from 2 Chronicles 7:14. “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” As all 99 Counties read a section of the Bible, God’s Word, the whole Bible was read over the State of Iowa from Genesis to Revelation. A group gathered on the lawn of the Tama County Courthouse from different cultures and different churches for the reading. The service opened with prayer and the blowing of the shofar. Numbers 10:8-9 tells us “The sons of Aaron, the priests, are to blow the trumpets/shofar. This is to be a lasting ordinance for you and the generations to come. When you go into battle in your own land against an enemy who is oppressing you, sound a blast on the trumpets. Then you will be remembered by the Lord you God and rescued from your enemies.” The blowing of the shofar especially in the Old Testament was for many reasons. It was blown when receiving the tablets of the Law, Rosh Hashanah, commitment to God, seek repentance, call for spiritual awakening, call to gather for worship, usher in the presence of the Lord, symbolize freedom and liberty, sound the alarm for war, battle, spiritual battle and even the return of the Messiah and the Rapture of Jesus Bride, the church. The Tama County section that was read was Psalms 135 to 146. After completing the reading of the Word, prayers were offered up for the church, county, the state of Iowa, the nation, and the world. The time was ended with the singing of “The Battle Hymn of the Republic, God Bless America and the shofar again. (Lead by Brian Hempy) Forty five nations and several states also have committed to reading for the vision. We are working to fight the spiritual battle and bring this country back to its original founding’s. This event helps to fulfill the scripture in Hebrews 4:12. “For the Word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of thoughts and intents of the heart.” We are in a spiritual battle, rise up and fight with the truths of the Word and prayer. To God Be the Glory, To God be the Power, For Great Things He Hath Done.
