Arrest Report – Tama County Jail

A criminal charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

Nov. 25

Anthony James Reitinger, 29, of Toledo was arrested by Tama Police for driving while a license is revoked.

Ahmad Jamal Smith, 42, of Waterloo was arrested by Toledo Police for OWI (2nd offense), operating a non-registered vehicle, failure to provide proof of insurance, no valid drivers license, driving on the wrong side of a 2-way highway and failure to provide proof of financial liability. Smith was released on Nov. 26.

Nov. 26

Maria Socorro Perez, 58, of Tama was arrested by Tama Police on a warrant for failure to appear in court. Perez was released the same day on bond.

Nov. 27

Byron Lee Moritz, 22, of Tama was arrested by Toledo Police for 4th degree theft. Moritz was released on Nov. 28.

Nathaniel James Moritz, 27, of Tama was arrested by Tama Police for possession of drug paraphernalia. Moritz was released on Nov. 28.

Erica Lynn Velez, 30, of Tama was arrested by Tama Police for possession of a controlled substance and for possession of drug paraphernalia. Velez was released on bond the same day.

Nov. 30

Shanna Danyel O’Clair, 34, of Tama was arrested by Toledo Police for driving while barred and failure to provide proof of financial liability. O’Clair was released on bond the same day.

Eric Lemus, 25, of Marshalltown was arrested by Meskwaki Police for driving while barred. Lemus was released the same day.

Jacquez Jordan Nipwater, 22, of Toledo was arrested by the Tama County Sheriff’s Office on a warrant for failure to appear in court.

Dec. 1

John Paul Laganiere, 26, of Chester was arrested by the Tama County Sheriff’s Office on a warrant for failure to appear in court.

Scott Edward Doty, 54, of Grinnell was arrested by the Tama County Sheriff’s Office on a warrant by Meskwaki Police for possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine, 1st offense). Doty was released the same day on bond.

COURT NEWS

Cody Michael Deaver of Ankeny entered a written plea of not guilty in Tama County District Court on Dec. 1, 2021. Deaver is charged with one count of driving while barred, an aggravated misdemeanor. The incident occurred during a traffic stop on Nov. 12 on US Highway 30 W near the Meskwaki Settlement. Deaver had previously been charged for driving while barred on July 20, 2021. Trial is set for Feb. 21, 2022. Deaver is being represented by Attorney Nicholas Lombardi.

Vicente Munoz of Tama entered a written plea of not guilty in Tama County District Court on Dec. 2, 2021. Munoz is charged with one count of assault causing bodily injury, a serious misdemeanor violation. The incident occurred on Oct. 9 at the Tama Ballroom entertainment venue. Munoz is said to have assaulted a man inside the men’s bathroom at the Tama Ballroom. Trial in the case is set for Feb. 21, 2022. At the time of the arraignment, Munoz was representing himself in court.

A warrant was issued for Ashley Elizabeth Lau of Victor after she failed to appear in Tama County Court on Dec. 2, 2021. Lau was scheduled for a change of plea hearing on Dec. 2 where she is charged with operating while under the influence (1st offense) and possession of a controlled substance (marijuana, 1st offense). The incident occurred April 2, 2021 during a traffic stop on U.S. Highway 30 in Tama County. Bond is set for $5,000. Lau is being represented by attorney Allan Richards.
