U.S. Representative Bruce Braley (D-Waterloo)

U.S. Congressman Bruce Braley (D-Waterloo) announced this morning, Thursday, Feb. 7, in an email to supporters he will seek the Democratic nomination in 2014 for the post now held by Senator Tom Harkin (D-Iowa.)

Braley was reelected to the 1st District House of Representatives seat last year.

The 1st District includes Tama County.

His announcement sets up a race for what will become Braley’s open 1st District seat in 2014.
