tamatoledonews.com- A press release issued by the office of Governor Terry E. Branstad on Monday, April 11, said the Governor reluctantly accepted the resignation of David G. Worley as the commandant of the Iowa Veterans Home, effective April 28.

Worley, who was confirmed by the Iowa Senate last week, served the previous administration and was re-appointed by Gov. Branstad as commandant. In coming to a decision to resign, Worley cited personal health concerns that will prevent him from remaining 100 percent focused on the mission.

“David Worley is a wonderful commandant who passionately served Iowans in his role at the Iowa Veterans Home,” said Branstad. “I reluctantly accept his resignation, because I do believe he is the absolute right individual to lead the Iowa Veterans Home, but I understand that health and family must come first. My thoughts are with him as he tends to his personal health care needs.”

Branstad says he will begin searching for a new commandant and will name a replacement when he finds the best individual for the position
