DES MOINES (SPECIAL) – Modern American Cinema announced this week a new documentary currently in production featuring the story of Templeton Rye – the legendary prohibition era whiskey that was once the drink of choice for Al Capone, and now generates such high demand that there are often year-long waiting lists for a single bottle of the so-called “Good Stuff.”

“There is an amazing history behind Templeton Rye,” Day said. “The stories of the hard-working Iowa farmers who chose to become outlaws in order to save their farms during Prohibition are the stuff of legends.”

The Templeton Rye documentary will be the second film in Modern American Cinema’s Made in Iowa series. The ongoing series tells the stories of the innovative people, places and ideas that have influenced Iowa’s culture. The first film in the series, Hybrid Pioneer, was released in 2010 and is currently screening in art galleries and universities across the country.
