TAMA NEWS-HERALD MARSHALLTOWN (SPECIAL) – Are you curious about the natural internment burial process and relevant Iowa laws? During this free informational session you will learn about the process of natural interment burial from the time of death until interment. You will learn about the preparation of the body, casket purchase, markers, Iowa laws, and much more from Bob Brooks who is President of Comfort Care Consulting.

Central Iowa has a 10-acre area designated for green burial, located on former Highway 30, east of Marshalltown, near Rose Hill Memorial Gardens.

This area has been planted with natural prairie grasses and native flowers. Spaces have been GPS platted and are ready for use. In keeping with your personal values a natural burial site could be an option for you and your family and even pets. A green burial or Natural Burial ensures that the burial site remains as natural as possible. Interment of the body is done in a biodegradable casket with no embalming fluid and no vault.

You are invited to a free class to learn more about Natural Interment Burial on Tuesday, Jan. 25, 6:30-8:00 p.m. at Iowa Valley Continuing Education, 3702 S Center St, Room 608. You are asked to call IVCE at 752-4645 and enroll in course FAM 2023 004 by Jan. 21 so handouts can be prepared for everyone in attendance.
