MARSHALLTOWN – Although Iowa has one of the safest blood supplies in the nation, The Blood Center of Iowa works hard to maintain the highest standards by relying on healthy, honest and responsible volunteer blood donors.

On Monday, Nov. 29, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., please plan to donate at the Marshalltown Community College Blood Drive at 3700 S. Center St., Marshalltown in the Student Union, Room 303, and is sponsored by the Phi Theta Kappa Honor. Phi Theta Kappa has been the sponsor of the campus blood drives since 1999.

The Blood Center of Iowa joined operations with Siouxland Community Blood Bank in April, 2010 to become LifeServe Blood Center. As one of the 15th largest blood centers in the country, LifeServe Blood Center provides blood and blood products to more than 90 hospitals located across Iowa, Nebraska and South Dakota. LifeServe is committed to providing premier service to volunteer blood donors and access to a safe, quality blood supply for hospitals and patients.

Never donated blood? Give it a try. Eligible donors must be at least 16 years of age, in general good health, and weigh at least 120 pounds. Donors are encouraged to eat a good meal and drink plenty of water prior to making a blood donation. A photo ID is required to register to donate blood.
