TAMA NEWS-HERALD – DES MOINES – With just two weeks until early voting starts in county auditors’ offices throughout Iowa, Secretary of State Michael A. Mauro has released updated voter registration totals.

As of September 1, 2010, there are 2,102,528 total registered voters in the state of Iowa (totals include active and inactive voters). The breakdown by political party is as follows:

•Republican: 645,606

• Democrat: 699,707

•No Party: 755,513

•Other: 1,702

One month earlier, there were 2,098,438 registered voters in Iowa. The breakdown by political party was as follows:

•Republican: 645,149

•Democrat: 699,593

•No Party: 752,026

•Other: 1,670
