TOLEDO CHRONICLE – DES MOINES – Governor Chet Culver has appointed Paul Miller as a judge in Iowa’s 6th Judicial District.

“It is an honor to appoint Paul Miller as an Iowa District Court Judge,” Governor Culver said. “Paul has an outstanding background of service to Iowans, and I thank him for continuing his commitment to justice through serving on the Bench.”

The 6th Judicial District encompasses Tama, Benton, Linn, Jones, Iowa, and Johnson counties.

Miller is currently a private practice attorney in Iowa City. He attended the University of Northern Iowa, where he received his undergraduate degree, with high distinction, in 1973. In 1976, he received his law degree, with distinction, from the University of Iowa. Following law school, Miller served as an Assistant Woodbury County Attorney until 1978, then Woodbury Public Defender until 1980. In 1980, he joined the Area Prosecutions Division of the Iowa Attorney General’s Office, where he served until 1984. In 1984, he joined the Spirit Lake firm Bedell, Ladegard, Maahs & Miller. He practiced here until 1993, when he joined Larson, Miller & Evenson in Iowa City. In 1995, he formed Miller Law Firm in Iowa City, where he continues to practice.

The vacancy was created when Iowa District Court Judge David Remley retired after 16 years of service.
