Last week, in a Letter to the Editor, reader Daun K., Tama, warned of dangers she foresaw in the new U.S. 63 overpass on Toledo’s south side.

Mr. Herald Chronicle forwarded the concerns to Doug McDonald, Resident Construction Engineer – Iowa Department of Transportation, Marshalltown RCE Office

Here’s what he had to say in response:

” The US 63 bridge and roadway meet current design standards for an urban setting in the city of Toledo. The speed limit is 40 MPH with a curbed roadway.”
