Flu clloses Iowa Valley Ed & Training Center
MARSHALLTOWN – The Iowa Valley Education & Training Center, 206 E. Church St., Marshalltown, is canceling classes this week May 4-8, according to Bettie Bolar, Vice Chancellor of Iowa Valley Continuing Education and Training.
“While there are NO confirmed cases of flu at the Center we are canceling classes so our staff can volunteer at MMSC to help answer the flu Hotline,” says Jennifer Wilson, Director of the Iowa Valley Education & Training Center. “Another reason to cancel is due to the fact, when the Marshalltown schools close our adult students tend to stay home with their children which we want to encourage at this time.” Wilson stresses that there are no cases confirmed at this time at the center.
Wilson has been attending briefings with other community leaders coordinated by MMSC to monitor the virus spread in Marshalltown. According to Wilson, “When we found out the hospital has a need for volunteers to help answer phones and provide information we decided that is something we can do for the community, especially since attendance in our classes would be low this week anyway. We want to cooperate with the hospital and the Marshalltown School District in every way possible.”
The Center will still be open for phone calls regarding classes or questions.
Other Iowa Valley Continuing Education courses scheduled at the college are being held as scheduled. For any questions regarding classes students can call IVCE at 641-752-4645.
