South Tama (0-1) opened their season against conference opponent Center Point-Urbana (5-1) Tuesday evening. The Class 3A 5th ranked Pointers proved to be too much for the Trojans with STC falling 82-35.

The Trojans trailed by just 11 points going into the second quarter. But with the arrival of Ryley Goebel in the lineup, the Pointers more than doubled that lead going into halftime.

The Pointers held STC to their lowest scoring quarter following halftime. STC put up just five points.

Tylese Rosenberger led with 15 points and was 1 of 3 from the free throw line.

Returning to the STC lineup was Carissa Musgrave. She took last season off but made a noticeable difference for the Trojans. Musgrave scored nine points. She was 3/10 from the free throw line.

Defensively Shelby Slaven led the Trojans with six rebounds.

The girls team will be on the road to Maquoketa tonight (Friday) and the boys will host the Spartans at home. Varsity tip off is around 7:30 p.m.
