The STC volleyball team traveled to Williamsburg on Tuesday, Sept. 15, to face the Raiders in a WaMaC conference matchup. Looking to better their standings in the western half of the WaMaC, the Trojans swept the Raiders, 3-0, for a key road victory.

In three competitive matches, the Trojans battled to wins of 25-21, 25-19, and 25-21.

On the night, STC was led by two players who totaled double-digit kills: junior Stella Zmolek (15) and senior Paisley Bro (10). Bro also recorded 8 digs and led the team with 5 aces in the match. Junior Maylee Rucker led the team with 21 assists, while junior Layla Pansegrau contributed 12 assists. Junior Scout Ridout tallied the most digs on the night (12), while junior Kenzi Boriskey led in blocks (4). Junior Sydney Arp contributed two aces and junior Brylee Nelson chipped in seven digs.

With the win, the Trojans pushed their winning streak to five matches in a row, and their overall season record to 15-6. This past week, STC had a busy week of action scheduled. They hosted Grinnell (in another critical WaMaC matchup) on Tuesday, September 22, and traveled to Aplington-Parkersburg to face the Class 2A, #9 rated Falcons on Thursday, Sept. 24. Tomorrow morning — Saturday, Sept. 26 — the Trojans will host their annual STC invite at the STC High School gym. Action will begin at 8:30 a.m. with participating teams that include the likes of Belle Plaine and East Marshall.
