Four STC athletes recently received honors from the WaMaC conference, as both boys baseball and girls softball recently wrapped up their seasons for the summer.

Head Coach Dave Nitz’s baseball squad had a pair of underclassmen receive recognition in the WaMaC western division. Sophomore Jonas Sheetz and freshman Brayden Wiese both earned honorable mention by the conference. According to statistics recorded on Bound, Sheetz led the Trojans in many offensive categories this summer. He led the team in average (.296), hits (8), singles (5), doubles (3), runs (3), and walks (6). Sheetz was also tied for second on the team in RBIs (1). Wiese was fourth on the team in average (.118), second in hits (4), and second in singles (4). He also recorded seven strikeouts on the season while pitching for the Trojans.

The STC baseball team finished the summer with an overall record of 0-19. They dropped their first round playoff game to Cedar Rapids Xavier on July 10 to finish their season. Other statistical leaders on the team included: freshman Orion Armstrong (2) and freshman Jayden Hiles (2) in RBIs; freshman Julian Gomez (12) in strikeouts; and junior Cameron Birch (15.75) in ERA. Clear Creek Amana (24-12) won the WaMaC western division, while Clippers junior Luke Young won the western division player-of-the-year.

STC head coach Kodi Hillman and the girls softball team were recognized with two girls placed on the honorable mention list: sophomores Presley Vest and Shelby Johannsen. Vest was third on the team in average (.188), third in hits (9), third in singles (6), tied for first in runs (4), and second in RBIs (3). She led the team in home runs, with three round-trippers on the season. Johannsen led the Trojans in hits (11), singles (9), doubles (2), and tied for first in runs (4). She was second on the team in average (.204) and led the team in stolen bases (4).

The Trojan softball team finished the 2026 summer with an 0-27 record. They wrapped up their season on July 9, when they fell, 12-0, to Williamsburg in the cCass 3A, region 1 quarterfinal. Other statistical leaders this summer included: sophomore Delayna Bear (4) in RBIs; senior Taylor Johannsen (8) in walks; and sophomore Layla Pansegrau in strikeouts (23) and ERA (18.70). Williamsburg (37-5) won the WaMaC western division, while Layna DeMoss of Benton won the western division player of the year.
