STC tennis takes on Boone, Independence

The STC boys tennis season is in full swing under head coach Andrea Rutledge. On Thursday, April 16, the team hosted both the Independence Mustangs and the Boone Toreadors at the STC high school tennis courts.
The Trojans dropped both contests: 8-1 to Independence and 9-0 to Boone. STC senior Tanner Large competed in the #1 singles place and picked up an 8-4 victory over Ramon Moore of Independence. Large later dropped a competitive match to Boone’s Braxtan Sproule, 10-5.
Also competing for Trojans was senior Hunter Defoe (#2 singles), sophomore Isamir Martinez-Rodriguez, freshman Oliver Brown, and senior Finnley Miller.
Up next for the boys tennis team are back-to-back contests at home. The Trojans will take on Union on Tuesday, April 28. This will be followed by a matchup against Marion on Thursday, April 30. Both dates will begin at 4 p.m. at the STC High School tennis courts.
