SANDY, Utah — In a feat that places her among the nation’s top young archers, South Tama freshman Ava Boldt claimed two national titles at the 2025 NASP (National Archery in the Schools Program) Western Nationals held in Sandy, Utah. Competing in both the Bullseye and 3D competitions, Boldt emerged victorious in each, taking first place in the High School Girls division for both events.

In the Bullseye competition, Boldt shot a nearly flawless 296 out of 300, besting a field of 1,174 high school girls. In the 3D competition, she remained dominant, outperforming 999 competitors.

Her Bullseye performance wasn’t just the best among high school girls, it was the highest score of any archer across all divisions, including elementary, middle, and high school, earning her the distinction of High Overall among all boys and girls at the tournament.

“It feels good that all my hard work and dedication are paying off,” Ava said. “I’ve been putting up some great scores this past season, so to shoot even better than last weekend has been challenging. It was a great relief that my score proved to be the best of this weekend’s tournament.”

This marks Boldt’s second national championship birth. In 2024, she captured the Middle School Girls Bullseye title and placed second in 3D. Now competing at the high school level as a freshman, she’s shown with tougher competition comes bigger victories.

“With all my years of archery success, I knew I was going to be one of the top shooters,” Ava added.

The dual victory comes on the heels of her performance at the Iowa NASP State Tournament, where she won the Bullseye category, runner up in 3D, was named the female high all-around champion with a combined score of 587, received $4000 in scholarship money, and won a Genesis Pro Bow for her performance.

In addition to NASP, Boldt also competed in Centershot Ministries tournaments, a separate faith-based archery competition. She won the Bullseye competition and was runner up in 3D.

Being announced on Facebook earlier this week, Ava has been invited to compete in the National Archery Scholarship Shoot-off in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Being held on June 7, the top five girls and boys from combined scores at both national tournaments qualify for the event.

With accolades still coming in for the season, Boldt was named to the National Academic All-American Team, for her combination of academic and archery excellence.

With plenty of shooting ahead of her, Ava Boldt’s high school archery career is certainly hitting the mark.
