South Tama junior Timmothy Chandonia competed in the Drake Relays shot put competition last Thursday. Qualifying with a mark of 53 feet, 10 1/2 inches.

In an attempt to launch a record setting throw Chandonia scratched in all three of his attempts in competition. He was one of two shot put competitors to scratch all three attempts.

Chandonia’s qualifying distance of 53 feet, 10 1/2 inches would have gained him ninth place on Thursday and places Timm second all time on the Trojan’s all time list. In his secondary event, the discus, Chandonia sits number four all time.

Looking forward to state, Chandonia sits 10th overall in the 3A rankings for shot put.
