Bridgewater commits to Upper Iowa

South Tama County High School senior Gavin Bridgewater recently signed his letter of intent to play football at Upper Iowa University in the fall. During his time at STC, Bridgewater was a four-sport athlete, competing in football, wrestling, track & field, and baseball.

During his junior and senior football seasons, Bridgewater accomplished many titles including first team all district for in both seasons. Bridgewater also led the Trojans in rushing yards and tackles during the 2023 season. Bridgewater also carried this success onto the wrestling mat, as he accomplished a runner-up finish in the state championship match to end his wrestling career.

When talking to Bridgewater about the impact and gratitude he has for the STC community for helping him get this opportunity to play football on the next level, he credited the people around him.

“The biggest reason I have found success in football is because of the people around me like my family, coaches, and teammates. Because of their support I want to repay that to the community and show that South Tama has really good athletes,” he said.

The South Tama football community looks forward to seeing what Bridgewater will accomplish at the D2 football level, as he will take his talents to Upper Iowa University next fall.
