The South Tama varsity boys’ basketball team hosted Center Point-Urbana for a WaMaC conference contest Friday, Jan. 22.
The Trojans dropped their third game of the week to the Pointers 54-21.
South Tama had hosted Grundy Center last Monday falling 63-30 as well as Vinton-Shellsburg the following evening losing 67-46.
The Trojan lineup is a mixed bag of experience. Three seniors Tyler Moran, Eli Keahna and Pablo Ramirez each have varsity experience from last year. Matt Wiese and Gavin Jimenez are also both seniors and returned to the lineup after sitting last season out. Juniors Lance Davenport, Trusten Rosenberger and Kenny Balderas also have experience on the varsity roster.
Then there are three freshmen who are seeing significant playing time this year. Tommy Tyynismaa, Gavin Bridgewater and Daniel Wiese are each coming in to help out.
The Trojans have one win this season and continue to find their footing for a team that does not have much experience playing together yet.
While the boys hosted at home the STC girls traveled to CPU where they lost 61-13.
The girls varsity team will host Clear Creek-Amana Friday evening while the boys travel to face the Clippers.
