The South Tama Trojans (3-8) hosted Benton (9-10) Community in WaMaC Conference action on Tuesday, September 12.

The Trojans fell to the Bobcats in three sets (25-15, 25-20 and 25-21).

Head coach, Amy Dolash recognizes that mistakes are really hurting the team. “Overall we were slow to start and made too many unforced errors. Its tough to battle in this conference if we’re the ones making the majority of the mistakes,” said Dolash.

Despite the errors, Dolash also recognizes where the Trojans succeed. “We knew Benton had two main hitters and really keyed in on them. I thought we did a good job on defense getting more digs and blocks then when we first saw Benton this season,” said Dolash, “I was most impressed by the players who continue to show consistent performances each night. Sadie Smith was once again in the 40% hitting efficiency and Katie Campbell was 100% from the service line. I really liked the blocking from Jaelin Berger and Izzie Morgan, they got a ton of touches on balls and combined with our outsides and right sides for more assist blocks than we’ve had all season.”

According to Dolash as the Trojans head into Homecoming week they will be focusing on correcting mistakes particularly minimizing errors especially from the service line, flowing on serve receives, staying low and moving before the ball crosses the net, prepping for a scrappy Williamsburg team and discipline to the basics. In the next three weeks we’ve got four conference games and three tournaments. “We’ll be busy getting ready for each opponent and staying focused on what its going to take to get the win in each match,” said Dolash.
