The South Tama Activity Boosters have been operating under new leadership for the past several months. In February, the Boosters elected Keely Upah as President, Travis Smith as Vice President, and reappointed Allison Graham and Tammy Kalinay as Secretary and Treasurer respectively. Also serving as voting members on the board are currently Mike Thede, Jim Husak and Todd Timm. Upah took over the reins from Jim Husak who served as board President for the past several years.
The Booster Club is preparing for their largest fundraising event, the Kolpin Open. This is a special milestone for the event, honoring late STC Athletic Director Ken Kolpin, as it will be its’ 10th anniversary. The event will be held on Saturday, August 19 at the Tama-Toledo Country Club. Tee times are at 8:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. It is a four-person best shot tournament. Door prizes are available to all who enter. For more information, contact Trish Stadler at 641-489-2012.
The Boosters are also preparing for the beginning of 2017 membership drive. Anyone who is interested can pay a minimum of $25 to become a booster member. Members are invited to attend any and all regular booster meetings and may vote on a wide variety of funding requests and issues presented.
The Activity Boosters support all STC activities, outside of band and choir which operate their own booster organization, and in the past year have given money to the high school girls tennis and baseball programs as well as large group and individual speech and the marching band.
The Boosters recently received a donation from Lincoln Savings Bank (LSB). LSB is the sponsor of the home Trojan Touchdowns.
Monthly meetings are held on the first Wednesday of each month at the Tama-Toledo Country Club at 5:30 p.m. Go Trojans!
