Tahahwah signs with Ellsworth

Meskwaki Settlement senior, Grace Tahahwah has her future secured after signing to play basketball with Ellsworth Community College on Monday, May 1.

Tahahwah was joined by her parents Mary Lasley (mother) and Ray Tahahwah (father) as well as high school coach Bryan Murphy and Ellsworth interim coach Justin Weiland for the signing. Several Meskwaki students also joined to watch.

While in high school Tahahwah was a stellar athlete for the Lady Warriors. Tahahwah played basketball all four years and also ran track.

On the basketball court Tahahwah averaged 19.5 points per game in her senior year. She had an average of 49.8% from the field, 37.1% from the three point line and averaged 59.5% in free throws.

“I’m really excited. I’ve been wanting to do this since I?was young and I’m just excited to have the opportunity to play basketball at the next level,” said Tahahwah.
