A place in space!

Pastor Mike Nodland of the Christian Fellowship Church in Vining, IA.

Alan Shepard, first American to travel into space, made that astute comment, “It’s a very sobering feeling to be up in space and realize that one’s safety factor was determined by the lowest bidder on a government contract!” Not to be outdone, Elon Musk made the brilliant observation, “I would like to die on Mars. Just not on impact!” I used to enjoy amusement park rides, the wilder the better; but now I prefer a 2-foot stepstool with handrails and a safety harness. (I attribute this to too many smacks on the head from a half-opened garage door.)

The idea of “space” gets thrown around a lot. Some need their space, some are spacey, some roam space and others are simply lost in space. We have spacecrafts and deep space, space probes, space heaters, and a “space of time,” whatever that measures.

Artemis II astronaut Victor Glover gave tribute last Sunday to space, calling earth the “beauty of creation” …that they were really far from earth, but we back home are “on a spaceship called Earth that was created to give us a place to live…” Perspective changes everything as they viewed earth from their orbiting capsule and the handiwork of God Who created a place in space for Earth! Do you know Him? He knows you!
